John Prince BioJohn Prince

A native of Princeton, Bonavista Bay, Newfoundland, John relocated to Ontario in the mid 1970s. He has sung and played guitar with various groups and personalities from the East, including Dick Nolan, the Bay Boys and the late John Allen Cameron. In 1992 John formed “John Prince & A Piece of the Rock” which enjoyed a very successful and popular 10 year run.

His musical influences range from his roots in traditional and maritime music through to the country/rock sounds of the Eagles, traditional country of Merle Haggard and Don Williams and the haunting ballads of Gordon Lightfoot. John is perhaps best known in his native Newfoundland, for his song and video “Newfoundland Blessing” which he co-wrote with his cousin Rex Roberts.

With his rhythmic ‘finger style’ guitar and warm melodic voice, John leads audiences on a musical journey they will long remember.
